This symposium was organised by the Institute of Asian Studies in collaboration with the Centre of Excellence for Classical Tamil from 17th to 20th January 2008. This Symposium was innaugurated by the Hon'ble Minister for Finance Prof. K. Anbazhagan. Prof R.E Asher from Scotland, Prof Alexander Dubiansky from Russia, Prof. David C. Buck from the U.S, Prof. Jung Nam Kim from South Korea ,Prof Shanmugadas from Srilanka and Prof. Udhaya Narayana Singh, Director Central Institute Indian Languages, Mysore are some of the important participants.
